A Brief History

The Professional Insurance Agents Association of Mississippi was chartered in 1938 as the Mississippi Mutual Agents Association.  The association was organized by independent insurance agents to "promote professional principles in the writing of fire, casualty, and surety insurance.

    Our independent agent members are the first line of defense for the insurance buying public against unfair insurance practices.  It is our intent to work closely with the legislature and the Mississippi Insurance Department to accomplish this purpose.  Our goal is to make the best insurance product available to the public in the areas of price, coverage, and fair claims handling. 

    In addition to emphasis on state legislative issues, PIA of MS  participates in the National PIA Federal Legislative Conference held in Washington, D.C. each year where agents from all states meet with Congressional delegates for the purpose of representing our member agents and the insurance buying public on federal legislative issues.

    PIA of MS  is affiliated with the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents representing independent insurance agents and their employees.
